I made a mistake when I installed it and set the url to a value but left out a dash. I have most of it but when I log into admin account and try to change the *root to the correct URL, it reverts back to the original. I changed it in settings.php but it gets changed there also. Where is the variable set so I can change it?

phpCollab v2.5

Thanks,

Bob

Hi there,

A client of mine is looking for a system to replace one that was built in-house, but is now unsupported (the developer has left, and it was built in Ruby on Rails).

PHPCollab is a very good fit for what we need, but my clients don't want to be left unsupported again. They are very happy with the concept of open-source software, but I am a little worried by the seeming lack of development activity and developer documentation.

Is there any commercial organisation that is offering support and will feed funding back into the development? (Like http://moodle.com )

Thanks,

Mark

Hi there, check: http://www.limesurvey.org/

they changed their project name because of PHP license issues.

For phpCollab this is not an issue, but just to inform you...

Quote:

PHPSurveyor gets a new name: LimeSurvey !
"Why?" you might ask and you are right to do so. Well.. we all agree PHPSurveyor isn't the easiest to remember name but that wasn't so important to us - the thing that made us finally give our baby a new name was the restriction that we could never use any libraries using the PHP license (e.g. PEAR) in our software - because of the darn letters 'PHP' in our name.

Check also: http://www.php.net/license/

Quote:

Q. I've written a project in PHP that I'm going to release as open source, and I'd like to call it PHPTransmogrifier. Is that OK?
A. We cannot really stop you from using PHP in the name of your project unless you include any code from the PHP distribution, in which case you would be violating the license. But we would really prefer if people would come up with their own names independent of the PHP name.
Why you ask? You are only trying to contribute to the PHP community. That may be true, but by using the PHP name you are explicitly linking your efforts to those of the entire PHP development community and the years of work that has gone into the PHP project. Every time a flaw is found in one of the thousands of applications out there that call themselves "PHP-Something" the negative karma that generates reflects unfairly on the entire PHP project. We had nothing to do with PHP-Nuke, for example, and every bugtraq posting on that says "PHP" in it. Your particular project may in fact be the greatest thing ever, but we have to be consistent in how we handle these requests and we honestly have no way of knowing whether your project is actually the greatest thing ever.
So, please, pick a name that stands on its own merits. If your stuff is good, it will not take long to establish a reputation for yourselves. Look at Zope, for example, that is a framework for Python that doesn't have Python in the name. Smarty as well doesn't have PHP in the name and does quite well.

This was just to point out that if in future versions there will be core improvements (or code rewrite) be careful with php libraries included in the project.

cheers

Hi Everybody,

I am facing two problems with PhpCollab. can any one help me?
1) (a) I want to assign one single task to more than one person in a project. Int he task creatiion there is an option like Assigned to: where we can map to only one person. Is there any possibility for assigning a task to more than one person.
(b) The task assigned to one person can be modified by another person of the same project. Is there any possibility for preventing this? Each shd be able to midify their own task but not others even if they belong to same project.
(c) User should not have athourity to create a task by his own. Only the task creation shd be done ny Project Adiminstartor. Subtasts can be created by the user.

2) If a user forgets his password then he is requesting for the password by clicking Forgot Password in the Log in page and the password is being sent to him to his mail id. But It is sent in the cryted form only. It is not in the decrypted form. How will the user understand what is his password.

Any Solutions for these?????? Sad

Project manager and Project Manager Admin. What is the difference.

Is there an option or Mod that will allow the Project Manager Admin edit projects that have been created by another user?

I have phpCollab installed at a web hosting company, but some of the security settings prevent me from using all of its functionality (uploading files, for example). Does anyone know of any web hosting companies where "file_uploads" are "on" and the "upload_max_filesize", "max_execution_time" and "memory_limit" resources are set to reasonably high numbers in php.ini? Thanks...

Hello
I have a problem with phpCollab, when defining a task under a project i define estimated time, and let Actual time not defined so i'll define it once the task is accomplished.
The problem that i get allways worked hours = 0 for my project even if i had tasks and subtasks with estimated and actual time defined.
How is phpCollab calculating that worked hours value, and so what's the need of estimated and actual time values.
thanks

For adjusting the code of phpCollab to fit exactly my needs, I'm looking for someone who has experience with (customizing the code of) phpCollab and who can help me.

I will send you the exact projects details later. The adjustments will probably take a few days of work.

Please send me proof of your experience and your hourrate to make the changes.

Thanks for your serious and quick reply.

Regards,
Marc
